July Challenge - Day 31

Thursday! Our LAST DAY!

If you have taken part in a big part of the challenge I would love to hear from you, I would like a few blog posts from you about your experience, include photos if you can. Let me know via email if you would like to write your blog post story for me!

Remember to keep smiling today, give a hug, tell your children that you love them and listen!

Assignment for Day 31: Memories!

It’s our last day together and I would like to thank each and every one of you who participated in this challenge.

Today we will be doing something with all the photos you took during the 31 Day Challenge and that is:

Go through the photos you took during the last 31 days with your children and have each of them pick which activity they enjoyed the most and which of the activities they would like to do more often, then with your day planner in hand jot down a date and time for each of the activities and stick with it!

Then, to celebrate the end of the 31 Day Challenge we have another competition! CUM Books have donated a book pack for mommy (or daddy) in both Afrikaans and English to give away. Go to our Facebook page where you will find a post on which to enter and you have to tell us which of the activities you found the most fun. The competition starts on 31 July and ends on Sunday 3 August at 22:00 so you have to be quick! If you enter on the Afrikaans Facebook page you will be entered to win the Afrikaans book prize and if you enter on the English Facebook page you will be entered to win the English book prize! Easy as that, go enter!

July Challenge - Day 30

Wednesday, second last day!

If you have taken part in a big part of the challenge I would love to hear from you, I would like a few blog posts from you about your experience, include photos if you can. Let me know via email if you would like to write your blog post story for me!

Remember to keep smiling today, give a hug, tell your children that you love them and listen!

Assignment for Day 30: Tell a story!

Today we will be telling each of our children a story, but not just any old story. You will be telling your children about the day they were born.

Not the details and definitely not the “hours of pain” in exaggerated terms, but the emotion, the anticipation of pregnancy, the worries and excitement and then of the day, the little face, tiny hands and tiny feet, the gratefulness, the love.

If you have photo albums, go through them and tell your child some of the stories behind the photos. If, like me, you have never had the time to make an album (perhaps it’s a good project to start!) go through the photos you have on your computer, but avoid things like “back when you were still cute/obedient/a good kid”  Keep it light and positive!

July Challenge - Day 29

Tuesday only two more days left

If you have taken part in a big part of the challenge I would love to hear from you, I would like a few blog posts from you about your experience, include photos if you can. Let me know via email if you would like to write your blog post story for me!

Remember to keep smiling today, give a hug, tell your children that you love them and listen!

Assignment for Day 29: Teach a new skill!

Today you will be teaching your child or children a new skill and you will know exactly what it is!

From toddlers who want to learn to button their shirt to the child who wants to learn how to tie their shoelaces, we all have a skill we need to teach our children that will make our life easier in the long run but we struggle to find the time to sit them down and show them how.

If you have older children, teach them how to make cook something in the kitchen, let daddy teach them how to drill a hole or mom can show them how to knit. You will know what your child would want to learn the most! Take the time tonight to show them how, it’s a very special time to spend together. To this day I can still remember sitting next to my mother on the couch and have her teach me how to do embroidery!
