Assignment for Day 10: Special dinner!
In our house there is a special night every so often where our eldest can decide what will be on the menu for dinner, she can choose and help to make it too, it’s her favourite night and she regularly asks when it’s her turn to choose again.
She usually picks flapjacks, not the healthiest option, but she loves it, possibly because she gets to help make the mixture and turn the flapjacks in the pan. Helping in the kitchen is her most favourite activity!
So for tonight your children get to decide what’s for dinner, if you have more than one child they have to agree on something or you can give each child their own night to choose, then the child that chooses gets to help in the kitchen (as far as possible). Enjoy the time spent with each child on their own, teach them different skills they need to work in the kitchen and explain to them step by step what you are doing.
If you have older children, give mommy the night off and let your child decide on a recipe, give them a budget and let them shop for everything they need for dinner and let them loose in the kitchen (with a few rules of course) Who knows, they might surprise you and perhaps it leads to a regular mom’s night off tradition.
